Shooters on target

YOUNG GUNS: Brodie Vonstanke finished runner-up in the Sub/Junior competition with a score of 27/50 from Declan Wright who shot an impressive 34/50.

A TOTAL of 78 shooters gathered to take part in the Lake Bonney Sporting Clays 50 target event.

Steve Bellinger and Norm Smith set the course and were able to present an interesting combination of targets to keep the competition tight.

High gun was decided by a coin toss between AA shooter Danny Bellinger and Veteran Wayne Evans both finishing with a 44/50, but it was Bellinger who took the honours.

The variation in the targets was enough to ensure that no shooter was able to complete the course with a perfect 25.

AA Grade was strongly contested with Malcolm Whitehead proving that he is not slowing down any time soon.

Fabian Bigmore and Chris Wright also decided their positions by a toss of the coin with Bigmore taking second and Wright third.

Lake Bonney member Tom Weir had a good day out shooting 43/50 to win A Grade ahead of Craig Hill and Matthew Jones.

B Grade had an interesting finish seeing three shooters having the same score at the end of the day.

Karl Altschwager taking home first, followed by Mick Brennan and Jon Prance.

C Grader Nigel Townley was not fair behind them with a 37 for first in his grade, Smith happy with second and Somerset’s Alex Gordon third.

Evans was three targets ahead of the veterans group, while regular rivals Wayne Gurney and Neville Kent both shot 41.

Not much was between the winners in Super Veterans Greg Todd 39, Barry Hill 38, and Peter Caskey 37.

Tasha Bellinger, Kellie Peterson and Meagan Millard took home the prizes in ladies.

Mason Patzel had a great day out shooting 38 in the Junior competition, while Declan Wright won sub juniors over Brodie VonStanke and Jeht Townley.

Peter Sims rewarded the crowd with a display of precision shooting breaking all five flash targets to win the cash in the Flash Five competition.

Lake Bonney’s next shoot will take place on November 19 and will be the club championship shoot, followed by the club’s annual general meeting.

All current members are encouraged to stay for the meeting and consider joining the committee to ensure the club continues to provide quality events for local shooters.
