BLUE Lake Golf Club played host to its Division 1 and 2 quarter finals with the victorious four advancing into the knock-out semi-finals to be played today.
The fairways and greens were extra slick along with the quick growth in the rough making for a challenging round for some.
Top qualifier Helen Myers and second qualifier Lyn Annand had the bye, which meant it was down to Marlene Lingham and Dianne Allen to do battle first.
Lingham played impressively to win comfortable 6/5.
However, it was not without a fight from Allen who was just one shot away on most holes.
The other match-up was between Lucy Richards and Carol Megaw.
Richards was able to clinch the win on the 16th hole being 4/2 up.
The semi-final’s today will see Division 1 top qualifier Dianne Perryman meet Rose Case who sits in fourth.
Perryman has been club champion several times and will be difficult to beat.
However, Case can also pull some good games out of the bag and should not be underestimated.
The second will be between Helen Richards and Annette Ford in what is expected to be an intriguing clash.
Division 2’s Helen Myers will meet Lucy Richards.
Both play a similar game and the result will depend on who plays at their best on the day.
Same could be said about the second semi-final between Lyn Annand and Marlene Lingham.
The two have plenty of experience, which sets up a tough clash.
However, Annand hopes to defend her 2016 title and will give it her all.
A stableford competition was held for those not participating in the quarter finals was also held.
There was just one division, with Dianne Perryman taking the honours on 35 points.
Josie Ashby trailed just behind on 34.
A joint nearest the pin was awarded to Fay Price and Josie Ashby with the pro-shot won by captain Sue Agars.

Division 1 – 8.45am: D. Perryman v R. Case; 8.50am: A. Ford v H. Stratford.
Division 2 – 8.55am: H. Myers v L. Richards; 9am: L. Annand v M. Lingham.
An 18-hole stableford competition will again be held today for those not in the championship.
