INTERNATIONAL’s Reserves side managed a narrow win against its Apollo opponents on Sunday, as the two teams contested the Limestone Coast Football Association grand final held at Gambier Centrals Soccer Club.

The game began as an even affair, with the two rival teams showing why they deserved to be in the big game, but it was Inter that was first to make its mark.

However, Apollo answered this goal quickly to keep the match level in the early stages of the term.

This was then followed by a second Inter goal, but Apollo once again scored the equaliser, seeing the scoreline at two-all going into the break.

Inter hit hard early in the second half and it was able to bag two unanswered goals to hold a two-goal lead over its rival.

But Apollo is no easy team to put down and its determined efforts saw it score two consecutive goals to tie up the game once more.

From there it was a battle for the upper-hand, as players from both ends were desperate to set up an opportunity for their side to take the lead.

The deciding goal was then scored off an Inter boot, giving it the 5-4 lead it carried to the final whistle.

Adam Hodge led the way on the scoreboard for Apollo with three goals to his name, while James Stephenson scored a single for the match.

But it was Inter’s Sar Hay Moo who did the most damage, with an impressive four goals for the game.

Moo was joined by Skayper Johnson, who rounded out the Inter scorer’s list with a single.

Final score: International  5 d Apollo 4
