SOUTH Gambier has continued to show its dominance in the inaugural season of South East Women’s Football, as the teams took to McDonald Park on Sunday for the fourth round of competition.

Up against Millicent, the Demons led at every change as they stormed home for their fourth victory of the year.

Meanwhile, East Gambier claimed its third win when it took to the field against the All Stars for a final winning margin of 17 points.

But the real show-stopper of the round was West Gambier’s 61-point triumph over North Gambier.

The Roos were all class as they demonstrated their fine-tuned skills, in a reflection of how quickly the side is developing.

Holding the Tigers scoreless for the entire match, West’s opening quarter of 3.1-19 laid the foundations for the eventual run-away win.

The second term saw the side replicate its first, with another three majors and a minor score giving the Roos a comfortable margin going into the long break.

From there the scoring slowed, but remained constant, with West controlling majority of the ball in its forward half.

The third quarter saw 51 points separate the two teams, before the Roos extended the margin once more in the last term, for a final scoreline of 9.7 (61).

For North, Ella Firth was a key player, creating a number of opportunities from out of the backline, before running or kicking the ball through the midfield to set up a chance at goal.

However, the West defence proved impenetrable for the Tigers and turnovers were the result of these attempts.

Kaitlyn Nisbet was a game-changer for the Roos in her first game for the side and showed a high level of promise looking ahead to finals.

Her presence was valuable on the field, with plenty of tackles and a major to her name.

She was joined by Olivia Fuller, whose efforts on the day saw her named best-on-ground for West.

Laurel Baxter, Tiffany Gillin and Tayarrah Morris led the way on the scoreboard, each with two majors for the match, while Sally McDonnell and Kali Langley both scored singles.

In the first game for the day, South made yet another statement when it claimed a 16-point victory over Millicent.

The Demons have been the dominant force in the league since day one and Sunday was no different, as they established a nine-point lead in the opening term – leaving the Saints without score.

Millicent narrowed this margin in the second by scoring a major, while preventing its opponent from hitting the scoreboard.

But this endeavour was short-lived, as South extended its lead back to nine in the third quarter, before leaving the Saints to a scoreless fourth term for a final scoreline of 3.5-23 to 1.1-7.

Chloe Pratt was best for the Demons and scored a major, while Aimee Beck and Zoe Crouch also contributed goals for their team.

Tess Clark gave another solid performance, making it into the Demons’ best and she was joined by Kaylene Nuske, Tara Bonney, Misty Dalton and Beck.

With the All Stars yet to win a match, the side was determined to make a change to its season when it took on East for the Round 4 clash.

Six points separated the teams after the first quarter, as East was reluctant to give up the lead, before it left the All Stars scoreless in the second to extend the margin to 20.

The Bulldogs continued to hold their lead, with 19 points the difference at three-quarter time and held on to claim the victory with a final score of 4.5-29 to 1.6-12.

Kiara Beck was the standout for East, leading the way on the scoreboard with two majors, along with being named best-on-ground for the side.

Breanna Forster and Kelsey Batt joined Beck on the scorers’ list, with a goal each and were also among the Bulldogs’ best.

This week of South East Women’s football will see teams flock to Malseed Park for the final minor round of the season.

The first game will have North Gambier take on the All Stars at 12pm, followed by West Gambier and South Gambier at 1.30pm.

The round will then conclude with a match-up between Millicent and East Gambier, starting at 3pm.
