Dining Cashback program brings visitors

A KINGSTON South East business has praised a cashback program which has seen more patrons come through its doors.

The State Government implemented the Summer Plan Dining Cashback program in October, giving winners 50% – up to $50* – back on their seafood purchases state-wide or meals in areas affected by the algal bloom and its perceptions, and Crown Inn Kingston has already seen the benefits.

Manager Tom Gardner said the scheme had brought more customers into the hotel.

“It’s worked really well, and the customers are really positive about it,” he said.

“We received plenty of QR codes and marketing, which is good and it’s brought people here, along with the accommodation vouchers, to spend in South Australia.

“Through both of those avenues, we’ve quite a few come through and it’s picked up just in the last couple of weeks with visitors using their cashback voucher.”

While Kingston South East avoided the algal bloom, Mr Gardner said the perception of the bloom had kept visitors away, but he was hopeful the Dining Cashback program will bring people to the region over summer.

He praised the program and how easy it was to be involved.

“It’s simple for us, because they pay full price to us, and then they get their money,” he said.

“All we’ve got to do is provide them with a tax invoice, and then they’ll get refunded.

“So really, it’s business as usual for the venue – the hard work is done before and after us.

“We come out looking good because we’ve given a discounted meal, when, in fact, it’s all

paid for.

“It’s supporting South Australians, it’s supporting businesses and whilst the algal bloom might not be here, South Australian hospitality businesses as a whole are struggling, so it’s a great initiative.”

Promoted by the South Australian Tourism Commission, L 9, 250 Victoria Sq, Adelaide SA 5000; Licence Nos. T25/2028, T25/2027 & T25/2026. Vouchers are 50% cashback offer, up to $50. To enter and for full T&Cs, visit southaustralia.com/diningcashback. *Limitations apply.
