Rate proposal denied

OUTNUMBERED: Councillors Christian Greco and Penny Richardson voted against the adoption of Mount Gambier City Council’s 2017/18 budget on Wednesday night, voting instead for an amendment to reduce the 4pc increase on residential rates so the budget would reflect a nil surplus. A majority of elected members voted to adopt the draft budget as it stood.

A PROPOSED amendment to Mount Gambier City Council’s 2017/18 budget was knocked back during council’s final budget meeting on Wednesday evening as elected members cast their votes to finalise this financial year’s business plan.
