Child exploitation charge

A LIMESTONE Coast man charged with possessing child abuse material following from an interception by Canadian authorities has been remanded on strict bail conditions until next month.

Craig Frost, 36, appeared in the Millicent Magistrates Court last week on a single charge of possessing child abuse material and two counts of aggravated possession of child exploitation material.

The Australian Federal Police-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation launched an investigation after receiving a report from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police earlier this year.

The matter was referred to the South Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (SA JACET) and a warrant was executed at the suspects Kingston home on May 26, 2020.

SA JACET investigators, comprising Australian Federal Police and South Australia Police officers, allegedly found a large amount of child sexual abuse material on electronic devices at the home and those devices were seized for further analysis.

It is alleged Frost received 12 files containing child abuse material from a person located overseas and he had engaged in sexualised roleplay chat.

Prosecutors asked for the matter to be adjourned to the committal court, with Magistrate Maria Panagiotidis agreeing to hear the matter next month.

Frost will appear in court again on September 21.
