Prison guard in court

A MOUNT Gambier prison guard charged with bribery stemming from an Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (ICAC) investigation has made his first appearance in court over the allegations.

Sharif Kradolfer, 40, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court yesterday on a count of accepting a bribe or corruption of a public office.

It is alleged that between June 30 and July 10 last year, Kradolfer agreed to accept a benefit from another person as a reward or inducement for bringing contraband into Mount Gambier Prison.

He was employed by G4S, which is the company contracted by the Crown to operate the Mount Gambier Prison.

ICAC has previously said the man was a public officer by virtue of the contractual relationship between G4S and the Crown.

Kradolfer will face court again in three weeks.
