Drink driver detected four times over legal blood alcohol limit

MOUNT Gambier Police nabbed two drink drivers over the weekend, including one who registered more than four times the legal blood alcohol limit.

At around 9.45pm on Friday, police stopped a blue Ford Falcon while conducting static driver testing on Bay Road.

A 62-year-old Moorak man registered a breath analysis of .204.

He was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

The driver was reported for drink driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

A few hours later, a Mount Gambier patrol stopped the driver of a yellow Ford utility on Penola Road for a mobile driver screening test.

The 32-year-old Mount Gambier driver recorded a breath analysis of .118.

He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence and his vehicle was also impounded for 28 days.

The man was arrested for drink driving and was granted bail to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on September 10.

Three men have also been charged with traffic offences in Mount Gambier.

Police stumbled across a driver performing a burn-out on the Princes Highway on Friday afternoon.

At around 4.40pm, a Limestone Coast highway patrol observed a silver Holden Commodore turn from Cafpirco Road onto the Princes Highway at Compton.

While navigating the turn, the driver caused the vehicle to perform a sustained wheel spin.

A 30-metre tyre mark was left on the roadway.

A 19-year-old Mount Gambier man was reported for misuse of a motor vehicle and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
