POLICE are investigating a car fire on Saturday evening which left a vehicle completely burnt out in a paddock on Carpenter Rocks Road near Kongorong.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.20pm after reports that a car was fully alight in a paddock on the side of the road.

Country Fire Service crews from Mount Schank attended and extinguished the blaze, however there are still no details on how the car ended up at the site.

Mount Gambier Police Sergeant Stephen Lawrie said officers were seeking anyone with information that can help assist with the investigation to come forward.

“The car has been completely burnt out, but how it got there, whose car it is and where that person is now is still being investigated,” Sgt Lawrie said.

“We are making enquiries, but we would like to hear from members of the public who could potentially assist with the investigation.”
