Court denies bail to ‘blood brothers’

LOST TO VIOLENCE: Bordertown man Rex Court, 32, died on Sunday from injuries sustained in a violent brawl on May 13.

TWO brothers charged with the bashing murder of Bordertown man Rex Court have been refused bail in the Adelaide Magistrates Court yesterday.

Dominic, 20, and Jordon von Stanke, 23, appeared via video-link from prison before Magistrate Elizabeth Sheppard and were remanded in custody due to the seriousness of the alleged offence.

The charges relate to the murder of Mr Court, a 32-year-old father of three, which occurred during a fight on Commerical Street East at around 9pm on May 13.

According to The Advertiser, the court heard yesterday “it took the men just 39 seconds to spear tackle a man, throw him to the ground with a cracking sound and inflict ultimately fatal kicks and stomps”.

The prosecution said security camera and phone footage showed the men arriving on the scene in a Ford Territory before allegedly committing the vicious attack.

Defence counsel for Jordon indicated the defendant maintained his innocence, citing cause of death and self-defence as possible issues to be raised at a later date.

Dominic and Jordon were arrested and charged with murder in Mount Gambier on June 28 and faced the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court the following day.

Both men are yet to enter pleas to the charge and have been remanded to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on September 28.

A 15-year-old boy is also facing a charge of murder after being arrested in May.

He is currently remanded on home-detention bail and will appear before the Adelaide Youth Court on September 15.
