LETTER: ‘Global warming’ not council’s role

Maree Thompson, Mount Gambier

I HAVE to take issue with the letter in Wednesday’s edition of The Border Watch from Ralph Meznar regarding Mount Gambier City Council’s involvement in so-called “global warming” issues.

It is not and has never been the role of a local council to involve themselves in such issues.

In my opinion, most of the ratepayers would not want our council to get involved in something like this.

I believe this is all rubbish anyway.

There is no such thing as man-made global warming and more and more scientists are getting the courage to come forward and denounce this beat-up, money-making, so-called issue.

I was very happy to read our council made the decision to stay out of this.

As I said, it is not and should never be an issue for a local council that is there to look after the ratepayers’ issues.

If some councillors do believe in this fairy-tale then they should not let it intrude on their council duties.

Maree Thompson,
Mount Gambier
