BATTLE of the Bands Artist profile: The Short Sleeves
Describe your music in three words: “Dreamy, nostalgic and raw.”
The Short Sleeves started out as a group recently, although vocalist Daisy and guitarists Taj and Finn have been playing music together since 2021.
After a short break, Daisy and Taj began gigging together around Mount Gambier/Berrin at the beginning of the year and later, the pair decided to start playing with Finn again and add Noah into their band on drums.
Next came Riley on bass, and The Short Sleeves was born.
The band play a large range of music, including contemporary rock.
Collectively, Daisy said the band’s drive is simple: “so our mums don’t think we’re lazy.”
Their musical influences vary, and “Dinosaur Jr, Minor Threat, Wet Leg and Lorde” received a notable mention.
Each of the members have a favourite concert they have been to, which includes U2 for Finn, Knot Festival for Riley, Spring Loaded for Taj and Lorde and Gracie Abrams for Daisy.
Daisy said aspirations of the band include a world tour.
On Battle of the Bands, Daisy said it will be the bands’ first time playing together, so expect “energy and new unheard music.”
