WEDNESDAY:

MORE pre-Spring weather greeted the Blue Lake Golf Club women as they teed off in the fourth round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Stableford Trophy.

With the event now in its fifth year after the passing of Marlene in 2019, it was created to immortalise her contributions to the club through various committees for more than two decades.

Due to low rainfall this winter, the course maintained the run on the fairways.

Last Wednesday saw handicapper Dianne Perryman with the score of the day posting 37 points to play one under her handicap of 20.

Included in her outward 18 points, Perryman had pars on the second, fifth and ninth holes, turning to score 19 points with pars on the 12th, 14th and 15th.

Runner-up was Helen Stratford signing for 33 points off a 22 handicap, which also included pars on the second, 12th and 15th holes with a wipe on the 13th in her splits of 18/15.

Third on the podium after a count back from Cherryl Hill was Rosemary Martland, after the pair signed for 31 points.

Splits of 12/19 guaranteed Martland a voucher with the better back-nine score, as she managed to pick up a birdie four-pointer on the 12th and pars on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes.

Fiona Pulford claimed victory in Division 2, signing for 28 points also going to a count back with Lesley McPherson after she recorded 28 points.

It was Pulford’s better inward score of 17 to McPherson’s 12 which held onto the win.

Pulford played off a 35 handicap and managed a par on the fifth hole along with five three-pointers on her card.

McPherson off 34 had four three-pointers on her card.

Third place went to Bev Pascoe after a three-way tie with Beryl Mahoney and Dianne Allen all posting 27 points.

Pascoe was off a 33 handicap and had splits of 12/15.

Nearest-the-pin second shot on the 16th hole winners were Jaynee Oberer (2.10) and McPherson (3.10).

Oberer was the pro-shot winner on the fifth hole (5.20), while Martland had a birdie on the 12th and Stratford had a chip-in ferret on the 12th.

SATURDAY:

A DECENT field of 17 women enjoyed the sunshine with a few high wind gusts.

Most seem to struggle with the long course setup which came from the men’s monthly medal.

The best score came from Geraldine Scott 87/27/76 to take the top voucher.

Splits of 51/52 included pars on the fifth and 15th holes.

Runner-up was Lyn Annand signing for 113/35/77 with splits of 56/57.

Karen Panagopoulos finished with 101/22/79 to score third with splits of 49/52.

Nearest-the-pin winner was Rosemary Martland and the long drive winner was Kate Hommelhoff.
