THERE will be fifty shades of pink at the Glenburnie Racecourse yet again this year with the Breast Cancer Awareness Group hosting its annual fundraiser.

This year’s theme – Fifty Shades of Pink – will encourage attendees to donn their best and brightest outfits for an entertaining event.

Aiming to raise money for the group’s helping handbag initiative while also raising awareness of breast cancer, group members were excited for this year’s event.

The helping handbags are traditionally given out to those diagnosed with breast cancer and offer up to $1000 in gift vouchers.

These vouchers range from fuel to food and aim to ease the pressure of the treatment process.

Breast Cancer Awareness Group president Jill Gilmore said this year was the 11th year hosting the event with 250 seats available.

“We are getting ready with putting it together and all our ideas on how we can make it a little bit different to the previous year,” Ms Gilmore said.

“It goes to the same cause which is the Helping Handbags and we already have our major sponsor for the year, Infrabuild.”

She said the event would have auction items with the community already jumping on board with vouchers and donated prizes.

“We have our usual DJ Brett Shadow and we are going to see if we can have pink cocktails this year too for something a bit different,” Ms Gilmore said.

“We are encouraging everyone to dress in any type of pink clothing and this year we are increasing the seats to 250.”

Ms Gilmore said members could feel the excitement build as tickets went on sale with it being an event the community often looked forward to.

“We are really looking forward to having everyone here and them having a great night because we just really want to make it nice,” she said.

“We want to continue that atmosphere we know exists in the room while also raising money for the cause.”

Hunters Bus Lines will provide a courtesy bus to and from the Glenburnie Racecourse with food provided by Finn’s Fine Food.

The event will be held on October 25 and begin from 7pm with tickets available now.
