Vietnam veterans remembered

There was a good turn out at the service.

Veterans, their families and community members braved the weather on Sunday for the Vietnam Veterans Day service.

Gathering at the Mount Gambier War Memorial, the service honoured those that fought, and lost their lives in the Vietnam War.

For the first time, young musician Christopher Mossford-MacGregor played the Last Post to end the service.

Christopher has played in the City Brass Band and the Corner Pocket Big Band, as well as the St Martins Lutheran College school band.

“I started playing trumpet in 2016 and I’ve been having lessons ever since then,” he said.

“I’ve found myself in the Air Force Cadets as well, and I’ve attended quite a few of these services.

“That’s how I ended up being asked to do this.”

He said he enjoyed taking part in an important occasion.

“It feels really good, just having that respect for veterans.

“I think is really important, I’ll definitely be happy to represent squadron playing in the future.”
