A LIMESTONE Coast couple has been arrested by police after a series of criminal incidents and an ongoing search throughout the region.

Just before 7am on Thursday August 15, police were called to Barwon Crescent at Mount Gambier after receiving reports of two people acting suspiciously in a blue Ford Falcon sedan.

Police attended the area but the car sped off and was last seen heading towards Tarpeena on the Riddoch Highway.

At about 7.50am, a patrol located the Ford on Wright Street in Tarpeena, where it deliberately drove into the police car causing minor damage.

The officer was not injured as a result of the collision.

The Ford continued driving, heading towards Nangwarry before it was seen heading into pine forests.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in a paddock at Kalangadoo in the later hours of August 15.

The vehicle and suspects were believed to have been involved in a number of recent break-ins throughout the region.

Police received reports of a man and woman, believed to be the suspects, riding a black and red dirt bike in Kalangadoo earlier on Friday August 16.

That bike was subsequently located in Nangwarry at about 10.45am and after a comprehensive search, officers located the man and woman in the rear yard of a nearby home.

A 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman from the Limestone Coast have been arrested and are currently being interviewed by police.

They are expected to be charged with multiple offences including a number of break-ins.

Limestone Coast police thanked the local community for their assistance in resolving the matter.
