MOUNT Gambier/Berrin residents were treated tot he talents of vocal singers young and old as well as solos, groups and choirs with the Eisteddfods Vocal and Choir competition.
The Choral and Vocal Division we held for three days with mostly local competitors singing a wide range of genres, expressing themselves artistically while receiving constructive critique to hone their skills from adjudicator Jess Chalmers.
Ms Chalmers said the Eisteddfods was entertaining to watch.
“There is so much talent here that goes undiscovered and this eisteddfod is one of those rare opportunities where it goes on show,” Ms Chalmers said.
“There will be so many moments that almost have you in tears.
“There is so much passion and dedication from the competitors to create such beautiful work and it needs to be seen.”
Ms Chalmers encouraged others to come along and view the performances next year or perform themselves.
Choral and Vocal director Natalia Chalinor said Ms Chalmers was a delight to work with.
“We had excellent feedback from competitors and parents on her critique and manner towards them,” Ms Chalinor said.
“The performers were pleasurable to hear and they and their teachers have obviously worked hard to reach this standard.
“We are grateful to our many sponsors and volunteers with additional help from members of the Lioness Club.”
Gabriel Strachan was the winner of the Lakes Rotary Blue Lake Fun Run Scholarship while Isabella Hoskings was the winner of the Under 10 Own Choice Solo and Under 10 Song from Animated Movie Solo.
