THE Agricultural Bureau of South Australia has announced the launch of the 2024 Spirit of Excellence in Agriculture Awards.

The bureau will now seek nominations from young farmers and rural youth who remain passionate about making a positive impact on their communities and the agriculture sector.

The Spirit of Excellence in Agriculture Awards provide opportunities including substantial financial support to dedicated individuals aiming to enhance their personal and professional development while supporting successful careers in their chosen fields.

Applications for the awards are open with the awards including the Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship which offers a $10,000 grant to a farmer aged 18-45.

This scholarship enables recipients to pursue further study, take a study tour, or run a special project.

The Rural Youth Bursary comes with a $5,000 grant for rural young people aged 18-30, working in any field of employment within a rural community.

This bursary supports further study or the development of a special project that will benefit the community.

Agricultural Bureau of South Australia chair Janette Ridgway emphasised the importance of the awards in fostering the next generation of leaders in rural communities.

“We are proud to support and encourage the career development of our rural youth, not only in primary production and agriculture but in all areas critical to sustaining our rural communities,” Ms Ridgway said.

“We urge members of South Australia’s rural communities to apply for one of our scholarships, if they are committed to pursuing their dreams and we are eager to hear innovative ideas on building or supporting sustainable rural communities.”

Applications for the 2024 Spirit of Excellence in Agriculture Awards are open until 5pm on Monday, August 12,2024.

The 2024 award winners will be announced at the Agricultural Bureau of SA’s annual Spirit of Excellence Awards Dinner at the University of Adelaide Roseworthy Campus on Friday, September 20, 2024.
