After a busy 12 months, the Rotary Club of Bordertown has welcomed a new rotary year.

Jeff Wiese will be continuing on as president, and was hopeful to see the club’s key projects completed this year – the patient transfer facility and the Rotary Dog Park.

It was a big year for the club, hosting Rajendah Guatama, of Kathmandu Rotary Club, completing the public consultation for the dog park, and holding many fundraisers for the Nepal Girls Toilet Project.

The toilet project, which is a joint project with the Kathmandu Club was a huge success, with

fundraising starting in July 2023, and being fully funded with $11,000 by November.

It was supported by all the Rotary Clubs in the Border Clubs Zone – being Mount Gambier, Mount Gambier Lakes, Mount Gambier West, Hamilton, Casterton, Millicent, Naracoorte and Bordertown.

Mr Wiese said it was so successful, they had already started fundraising for more toilets at three more schools in Nepal.
