THE Robe Library has secured two new grants which will allow it to expand its writing and arts sectors for the community, while also providing entertainment for Robe’s children.

The first grant went towards a project titled ‘Robe Reflections’; a collaboration between the District Council of Robe’s Public Library and the Friends of the Robe Library group.

The grant, which held a total of $3265 from the Libraries Innovation Board, aimed to expand the artistic base of the community by encouraging more local artists to develop stronger creative relationships with the District Council of Robe.

The grant also hoped to explore the theme of Robe itself with the artists through a variety of printed publications and an exhibition.

The second grant of $1500 was received from the 2024 National Backyard Cricket Grants for country public libraries.

It was obtained by the library in hopes it would help to develop more educational activities, programs, materials or technology.

Robe Library Holiday Program team leader Lonny Peel said the grant had the power to help host events which could entertain Robe’s younger population.

“It is difficult to fund entertainers to come out from the city to regional areas due to the expense and any opportunity to engage our youth in new things is a positive,” Ms Peel said.

This funding has been used to secure ‘Sea Star Rock’ for the July school holidays, which will focus on promoting marine sustainability, positivity and self-esteem, in a fun and inclusive way for kids.
