QUILT enthusiasts will rejoice at the Anglican Church next month as part of a fundraiser for Riding for Disabled Mount Gambier.

The not-for-profit organisation aims to raise funds for further repairs to its fencing along the northern side.

Event organiser Natalie Zwar said she came up with the idea after seeing something similar overseas.

“I thought it would be a good thing to do here as we need to raise about $15,000 for the repairs and tidy a few things up,” Ms Zwar said.

“Although we are not expecting to raise that much through this event, it will be a start.”

She said having the ‘Festival of Quilts’ was a “different way” of raising money.

“Some quilts may or may not be on sale and the funds raised will be split 50-50 between us and the church,” Ms Zwar said.

“Riding for Disabled have also increased their clientele from about 12 to 50 due to having an employed coast.

“It has made it so worth it because we have one of the best facilities here and we are very fortunate.”

She said the employed coach loved what she did for the organisation and remained “very eager” which allowed for more sessions.

The Festival of Quilts fundraiser will be held at the Mount Gambier Anglican Church from July 4 until July 6 from 10am until 3pm with a $5 entry fee.
