South East sustainability champion Mary Irwin-Davies made her voice heard when she lead two sessions at AMPEAK24 recently.

Held in Adelaide from April 14 to 17, AMPEAK is the Asset Management Council’s national annual conference and provided asset management specialists the opportunity to come together.

During the event, Ms Irwin-Davies lead two Thought Leadership Sessions regarding her national work in the asset management space.

They were ‘How might the Value and Benefits from Asset Management support the 17 United Nations (UN) Sustainability Design Goals (SDG) based upon the “Value and Benefits of Asset Management” Webinar Series’ and ‘Sustainability to Achieve Resilience in a Complex Environment: More than Turning Green’.

Both sessions highlighted the paper released in 2023 by Ms Irwin-Davies’ SRiAM team titled ‘Embedding Sustainability Principles in Asset Management – Key Considerations’, as published in the current ‘The Asset’ journal available on the Asset Management Council’s website.

Ms Irwin-Davies said she enjoyed the experience.

“I love showing people how to introduce sustainability and resilience planning into their businesses,” she said.

“It is not usually as daunting as they thought.”

Ms Irwin-Davies has been part of the national asset management scene since she first presented on a panel at the 2019 AMPEAK and has never looked back.

She was invited to join the Sustainability and Resilience in Asset Management (SRiAM) team in January 2021 and has held the chair position since March 2022.

Earlier this year Ms Irwin-Davies joined her first International Committee for the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management.
