The future of Mount Gambier

IDEAS: Troy Bell is keen to hear you thoughts for the future of Mount Gambier.

It has now been over two years since I launched my Future Mount Gambier plan, a set of 17 initiatives to guide the state government as to our region’s most immediate needs.

What followed was a commitment from the Malinauskas government for more than $100million towards initiatives outlined in the plan.

This commitment materialised in the 2022 State Budget, with funds allocated to various projects spanning healthcare, housing, education, and forestry.

Many of these projects are now transitioning from planning to implementation, and over the next two years, we will see them come to fruition.

These include $24 million for upgrades at the Mount Gambier Hospital; $12 million towards new and upgraded public housing and $35 million for a new Technical College.

With the next state election only two years away, now is the time to start planning for Future Mount Gambier 2.0. It is vital that we articulate to both major political parties what our regions priorities are.

We can’t wait for decisions to be made in Adelaide; instead, we must actively express our community’s needs.

In addition to consulting with industry experts and local businesses, I want to hear from you.

What is your vision for Mount Gambier and the surrounding area?

How do you think we can grow and expand our region?

As an advocate for Mount Gambier and its residents, my role is to work with our state government to ensure our city has a collective voice at state level, let me hear yours.
