Candidates for Voice to Parliament announced

TO THE POLLS: Early polling booths will open next week.

CANDIDATES for the inaugural 2024 South Australian First Nations Voice to Parliament election have officially been declared with 14 announced for Region Four.

Region Four includes the South East, Riverland, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island.

A total of 113 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have been declared as candidates in the election which will be held in all six regions.

There will be 32 polling booths and more than 50 mobile polling locations established across metropolitan and regional South Australia alongside 13 early voting centres.

According to the Electoral Commission South Australia, about 55 per cent of the candidates were female with the Central region having the most candidates at 41.

Mobile polling booths for the South East include:

Bordertown Community Centre, March 4 from 1pm-3pm

Naracoorte Town Hall, March 5 from 9am–11am

Millicent Civic and Arts Centre, March 6 from 9.30am-12.30pm

Kingston Town Hall, March 6 from 3pm-5pm
