The Country Fire Service (CFS) Regional Training Centre in Wild Dog Valley was destroyed on Christmas Day when it was gutted by fire.

Emergency services were called to the site just north of Naracoorte around 1.30pm on Monday, December 25.

Four CFS crews and one bulk water carrier, with 17 CFS volunteers attended the fire and were supported by SA Police and SA Ambulance.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the structure used as a training shed for firefighting breathing apparatus (BA) engulfed by fire leading to more than $500,000 in losses.

The fire was extinguished using internal attack methods.

The structure and contents were completely destroyed, however the nearby shed and transportable building were saved.

No cause was identified, though fire investigators were expected to inspect the scene.
