Drink, drug drivers caught out

Limestone Coast Police detected several drink drivers, and one drug driver, over the 2023 Christmas long weekend.

At 4.09pm on Friday, December 22, a 40-year-old Mount Gambier man tested positive to methamphetamine while driving on Sturt Street, Mount Gambier.

The sample was sent for forensic testing.

Then around 5.45pm a 39-year-old Norwood woman was detected travelling at 130 km/h in a 110 km/h zone on the Princes Highway at West Range, near Kingston SE.

She recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.272 – more than five times the legal limit and was reported for drink driving.

She was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of license and a fine for speeding.

She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 7pm a 62-year-old man from Penola recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.179 on Arthur Street, Penola.

He was reported for drink driving, issued with a 12 month immediate loss of license and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

After that, at 8.20pm a 43-year-old Nangwarry man was stopped for a driver test in Portland Street, Penola.

It will be alleged he failed to comply with directions to submit to a breath analysis test and was reported.

He was issued with a 12 month immediate loss of license and had his car impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

At 12.50am on Saturday, December 23, a 21-year-old Millicent woman recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.108 on Davenport Street, Millicent.

She was issued with a six-month immediate loss of license and her car was impounded for 28 days.

She was reported for drink driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Then at 1.10pm a 63-year-old Millicent man recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.090 on Mount Burr Road at Millicent.

He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of license and reported for drink driving.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

After that, at 5.40pm a 46-year-old Kalangadoo man allegedly refused to comply with a direction to submit to an alcotest on South West Terrace, Kalangadoo.

He was issued with a 12 month immediate loss of license and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

At 4.45pm on Tuesday, December 26, a 61-year-old man recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.085 when stopped on Mount Gambier Road, Millicent.

He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of license and reported for drink driving.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
