AN ambulance only parking zone will soon be installed on the Eastern side of Crouch Street South, adjacent to the new Urgent Care Medical Centre.

In a letter to council, Sandy Johnston from the Limestone Coast SA Ambulance Service proposed dedicated parking areas for both ambulance and disabled parking.

For the ambulance parking, the request was the space be large enough to accommodate the ambulance but without the need for additional rear clearance to accommodate stretcher manoeuvring.

The installation of a disabled parking permit zone was not proposed by council, as the area suggested is also a bike lane and would conflict with requirements for this space.

The Urgent Care Medical Centre can however designate a disabled parking area within the centre carpark, which Council said inspectors will monitor as part of their regular program.

Council approved the recommendation for the ambulance parking zone to go ahead and Sonya Mezinec said it “makes a lot of sense” to have.

Signage and line marking for the new ambulance only parking zone will be completed soon.
