Fallen officer to be honoured with state funeral

A police funeral to honour the life and service to the South Australian community of Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig will be held on Monday, December 4.

The service will begin at 11am at the Adelaide Convention Centre, and those wishing to attend must register online.

It will be attended by invited guests including Brevet Sergeant Doig’s family, friends, and his South Australia Police colleagues.

Following the funeral service, SAPOL officers will line North Terrace and King William Road in a solemn Guard of Honour to Brevet Sergeant Doig.

For those not able to attend, the funeral service and Guard of Honour will be livestreamed on the SAPOL website and Facebook page.

This formal service comes after the Lucindale and Bordertown communities hosted their own memorials.

Members of the public wishing to pay their respects for Brevet Sergeant Doig can also sign condolence books.

These books are available around the state, with two available int the Limestone Coast at the Bordertown and Mount Gambier Police Stations., an online condolence book has also been made available.

Additionally, members of the South Australian community can make a contribution to support police officers and their families through SA Police Legacy, a charity that supports South Australian police families by offering financial, emotional and social support to those affected by bereavement or serious illness.
