Fifty years on from their first meeting as student nurses in Mount Gambier/Berrin, a group of woman have come from across the state to remember the good old days.

A group of retired nurses met up last month, to reminisce about their days at the Mount Gambier Hospital.

The group has remained in contact since their days as students in the nurses home, where they shared many great times.

Rosie Smith said the group enjoyed catching up and sharing stories.

She recalled one occasion, where they had all pooled their money together and gone out for dinner, only to get a shock when the bill came out and they were short by 20c.

Luckily, Faye Watson, who had worked in a bank before starting nursing, came to the rescue, discovering that the restaurant had in fact calculated the bill wrong.

Ms Smith said it was just one of many great memories that they had together.

While over the years many of them have moved on to different specialities and hospitals, they still make time to catch up every 10 years.

The group enjoyed a meal and conversation at The Barn.
