MOUNT Gambier / Berrin highland dance students hit the road in July to take on the country’s best through a national competition.

Bell Studio of Highland Dance students travelled to Gosford to compete in the International Highland Dancing Festival of Australia and The Australian Championships.

More than 370 dancers competed over three days, with all 10 Bell Studio students coming away with prizes.

The studio also placed third in the Small Groups Choreography Section.

Bell Studio principal Katie Edwards said she was overjoyed with the performances and attitudes her students displayed.

“All our dancers handled the pressure of large, high-quality sections incredibly well and danced their very best,” she said.

“It was a wonderful experience for them to participate in a competition on such a grand scale, and I’m really proud of how they handled their nerves and supported each other.”
