MORE than 140 attendees rocked the afternoon away when they came out in support of the Mount Gambier Cancer Support Group’s country music afternoon.

Support group chairperson Lorraine Musgrove said the annual fundraiser would support clients in the Limestone Coast who were going through their cancer journeys.

“Our goal with our finances is to support our clients, so that’s what we’re doing,“ she said.

She said the exact amount raised from the event was not yet known, but in ticket sales alone more than $2000 had been collected.

“It will go to clients who need fuel vouchers, food vouchers, up front medical costs, it’s a variety of different needs that the clients require.“

The group also supports the local oncology unit by donating wigs, turbans and other items.

Ms Musgrove was thankful for the whole community and everyone who had been able to help out.

“A big thank you to the community, because this year was a complete sell out a fortnight ago, it was just amazing,“ she said.

She was also grateful to Kevin Sporer for organising the entertainment and the Mount Gambier RSL and District Bowling Club for providing the venue and afternoon tea.

Ms Musgrove said people who might need support from the group could get in contact anytime by calling 0456 733 781 or via email at mgcsgi@outlook.com
