DURING their annual garage sale, the Allendale East Public Hall committee unveiled a special project which has been in the works since last year.

With help from the Grant District Council and OneFortyOne, the hall committee was able to build a storage shed, which hall committee president Richard Ferguson said they were thankful for.

Mr Ferguson acknowledged it was unusual to have an official opening for a storage shed, but said he wanted to thank the everyone who had been involved in the project.

“I’d like to thank the general public too, they are the ones who support our garage sales and supply us with goods and we turn it over and we have money and we can do all sorts of things with it, this being one of them,” he said.

“We’ve got a very hard working committee that makes the life a lot easier for me.”

He said the storage shed was part of the long-term hall development, and would also tie into the long term development of Allendale.

“We think we’re really caretakers for the hall and the area and we hope someone else will carry on in the near future,” he said.

Committee member Rhonda Jess was given the honour of cutting the ribbon and officially unveiling the storage shed.

“It gives me great pleasure to do this, to cut the ribbon and open our storage shed,” she said.
