Cabaret divas Dolly Diamond and Tash York are coming to Mount Gambier Fringe and they want your attention.

In their new, original show, Attention Seekers, the award-winning pair uses comedy and song to explore the different types of attention you can receive, whether it be positive or negative.

Ms Diamond said it would be a fun cabaret sharing true stories and advice equal parts Ted Talk and delusion.

“It’s in-your-face cabaret,” she said.

“We do all the work, that’s the idea, when you go and watch someone perform you want them to be singing and dancing and enjoying themselves on stage and that’s exactly what we do.”

She said the show held a mirror to society, but the audience did not have to think too hard about it.

“We realised that there is good and bad attention in this world and we obviously love to get attention in all the right ways,” she said.

“The show looks at people who are quite happy having the loudest voice and getting what we call bad attention, people like Donald Trump or JK Rowling.”

In an exaggeration of reality, Ms Diamond said the show would feature twists on well known songs.

“Tash has got this amazing ABBA song and instead of The Winner Takes it All, it’s The Diva Takes it All, and I do Cry Me a River while sticking pins into a voodoo doll,” she said.

Ms Diamond said she had never visited the region and was looking forward to bringing the show to regional audiences.

“We’re really excited, I’ve never been, but Tash York has been and loved it,” she said.

“It’s exciting to go somewhere new and we want to win the audience over and have a lovely week.”

Attention Seekers will be performed at Limestone Coast Pantry on Saturday, March 25. For more information, visit fringemountgambier.com.au
