RAINBOW flag decals on display outside ac.care’s Family Relationship Centre (FRC) were once again ripped down by an unknown vandal.

The progress pride flag decals were only put up on Thursday, February 2, after the previous rainbow stickers were vandalised over the Christmas break.

ac.care family services practitioner Astrid Victory said she was extremely disappointed that it only took two weeks for the decals to be vandalised.

“We had hoped our response to the first act of vandalism late last year would have educated the broader community on why we use visual elements such as posters and stickers to create a safe, welcoming space,” Ms Victory said.

“Representation matters and for our LGBTQIA+ community, symbols such as the progress pride flag give them confidence that our services are inclusive and respectful.”

Ms Victory said ac.care would continue creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ people and advocating for a community and nation free from discrimination.

“We will not allow the actions of this person or people to deter us from proudly championing equality and respect for all people,” she said.

“Our staff will also continue to engage in formal training and advocacy work to support LGBTQIA+ people and to educate the community.”

New progress pride flag decals were once again put up at the FRC on Thursday, February 23.
