AGRICULTURAL industry groups in the Limestone Coast can look to access further funding to help build resilience in a changing climate.

Limestone Coast Landscape Board (LCLB) announced an extra $100,000 has been put into its Adaptive Agriculture Grants project.

According to LCLB, the grants are available to fund activities in response to “threats and market opportunities created by future climate projections”.

LCLB chair Penny Schulz said these projects represent key industry groups in the region.

“In response to the strong interest from industry groups the Limestone Coast Landscape Board was pleased to run an additional funding round for the Adaptive Agriculture Grants,” she said.

“The information and experiences derived from these projects will help primary producers to make important decisions on production systems and changing markets.”

Coonawarra Vignerons executive officer Ockert Le Roux said the group was excited to receive their grant to help develop a process to validate and analyse existing data for 10 local weather stations.

“The analysis will support regional change to viticultural land management practices and vignerons will be able to recognise the importance of trend analysis for future decision making,” he said.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to prepare for changing conditions.”
