Henderson to headline Close 2 Home

AFTER performing on the world stage at the 2022 Closing Ceremony of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Taylor Henderson will be one of the headline acts for the Close 2 Home Festival this weekend.

This Saturday is the inaugural Close 2 Home Festival at the Mount Gambier Bowls Club, with two stages and 13 live music acts from around Australia coming to Mount Gambier to help raise awareness and, most importantly, much-needed funds for mental health and suicide prevention for the Limestone Coast region.

Chairwoman Natasha Little said by using the power of live music to bring people together to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention, it would allow the community to talk about the issues and offer support to everyone who has been affected.

Since becoming a runner-up on Australian music show The X Factor, Mr Henderson became one of Australia’s most loved artists rising to fame on the nostalgic TV show.

Mr Henderson has had two number one albums, and two number one singles topping the ARIA charts.

“With fantastic support from the artists and businesses throughout the community, we can have the opportunity to have events like this to support an outcome that can help the whole region,” Ms Little said.

“Close 2 Home would like to especially thank the Music Development Office, One Forty-One and numerous local businesses with generous financial and in kind support for the event.”

With gates opening at 1.30pm, tickets will only $20 with children under 14 allowed entry for free.

As well as music, entertainment has been covered with Barefoot Bowls, virtual reality from Next Gen Entertainment, the City of Mount Gambier is providing a pop-up library experience and face painting.

A variety of local food trucks will be on site, with pop up bars and a children’s lolly stand.

Tickets will still be available through the Close 2 Home Festival Facebook page and can be obtained at the gate of the Mount Gambier Bowls Club when gates open at 1.30pm on Saturday October 1.
