The smell of a sizzling barbecue filled the Mount Gambier CBD on Wednesday, as volunteers cooked up a storm for a good cause.

Barker MP Tony Pasin hosted his annual Big Aussie Barbie at his Commercial Street office, something he has done since 2015 to raise awareness and funds of prostate cancer.

Funds raised go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and in seven years, more than $6000 has been raised for prostate cancer research.

In Australia, more than 24,000 men in Australia are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year and it kills more 3500 men every year.

Dozens of people stopped by the barbecue for a bite and chatted with volunteers from the Limestone Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group.
