Council invites community condolences

Flags around Australia flew at half-mast in memory of the Queen.

THE City of Mount Gambier Council is inviting the public to join in on commemorating the life of the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 after 70 years on the throne.

Council has announced a number of ways the community can acknowledge her life in the coming weeks, including a book of condolence at the Civic Centre.

The Mount Gambier Library has begun hosting its Immersive Story Telling of the 1954 Royal Visit in the foyer, with 360-degree camera footage, photos from the Les Hill Historic Collection and oral history recordings.

Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre and the Lady Nelson Brig at the Visitor Centre have also been lit in purple at night to commemorate her death.

Flags flew at half mast last week to commemorate her passing.
