AFTER living in Millicent for 59 years, long time local real estate agent, Valerie Jones recently became an Australian citizen.
Officiated by Wattle Range Mayor, Des Noll, the private citizenship ceremony was held at the Millicent Civic and Arts Centre last Friday.
Originally from London, England, Valerie came to Australia with her parents when she was 10 years old.
Apart from a few months in Melbourne, she has called Millicent home ever since.
“I have always considered myself an Australian so I really didn’t feel the need before,” said Ms Jones.
“But with the pandemic it has become more important to have that piece of paper; so while I feel I have always been an Australian, now it’s official.”
