ERIKA Vickery has been re-elected as president of the Limestone Coast Local Government Association (LCLGA) unopposed.

Mayor of Naracoorte Lucindale Council, Ms Vickery will be joined by Mount Gambier City Council Mayor Lynette Martin who was also re-elected as vice president.

The two were re-elected at the LCLGA annual general meeting held in Mount Gambier earlier this month.

Ms Vickery said it was an honour to be re-elected again.

“I have been president for probably around eight years now,” Ms Vickery said.

She said the LCLGA would continue to work together to improve the livelihoods of people in the Limestone Coast with waste management an important topic.

Hoping to develop a better waste management plan due to the high costs of current plans, Ms Vickery said most councils were spending large amounts on waste transport across the region.

“We want to make sure it is sustainable, which is still a work in progress,” she said.

Tourism was also expected to remain an important topic for the LCLGA with a Destination Action Plan being discussed at the recent meeting.
