Mount Gambier Mayor, Lynette Martin (right) presented the 'Toy Boys' of the Mount Gambier Men's Shed with the Active Citizenship Award. The 'Toy Boys' are Glen Bowmer, Ian Bond, Peter Heness, Peter Kukola, and Gary Austin. For the past five years the 'Toy Boys' have handmade and painted wooden toys for donation to the Mount Gambier Community Mayor's Christmas Appeal. They make up to 200 toys a year using donated timber and paint for children from the age of one to 10 years old.
THE City of Mount Gambier held its Australia Day Awards ceremony in a restricted format this week as a result of Covid-19 concerns.
The traditional Australia Day breakfast, entertainment and awards ceremony were cancelled.
Instead the awards were presented at an invitation only event held at the City Hall.
