A COURIER delay caused 100 local Covid-19 and blood test specimens to go temporarily missing on route to Adelaide.

SA Pathology first confirmed the tests from Mount Gambier were missing on Monday when they did not arrive when expected.

On Tuesday SA Pathology in a statement said the missing samples had been located, and would still be used for testing.

“We have located the container of specimens from Mount Gambier, which was being transported to Adelaide for processing, and the samples will be processed as a priority today,” the statement read.

“The error occurred due to a delay with the external courier, and we expect the COVID sample results to be returned today.

“About 100 specimens were in the container, including Covid-19 swabs and blood samples.”
