Nationals to run in MacKillop

JONATHAN Pietzsch has been announced as the Nationals Party candidate for the seat of MacKillop for the upcoming State election.

The Tintinara farmer is the current president of the SA Nationals.

Mr Pietzsch said he is running to ensure that decisions that affect regional families and communities are made by people from regional families and communities.

He believes that the recent issues around cross border communities have highlighted why we need dedicated regional representation.

“I’m running for the seat because I believe regional SA needs a stronger voice – the difference [from the Liberal Party] is that the National Party is solely focused on regional issues,” Mr Pietzsch said.

“I come from a conservative background and I bring those values to the way I look at policies.”

Mr Pietsch said housing was a major issue in the region.

“While I’m very keen to focus on decentralisation of regional development, we need to get the fundamentals right,” he said.

‘When you can’t find somewhere to live anymore in our regional communities… that’s a big issue we need to address.”

In response to being asked if he thinks he could win the seat, Mr Pietzsh said: “I’ll give it a good crack.”
