EXTREME SPEEDING

A MAN has had his car impounded after being caught driving at high speed on Monday.

It will be alleged that just before 3.50pm on Monday, police were conducting speed detection duties on the Riddoch Highway in Glenroy when they recorded a Holden sedan travelling at 190kph in a 110kph zone.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Mount Gambier was reported for driving at an extreme speed. His car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

LARGE FINE

A DRIVER has received a large fine after he was caught speeding on the Riddoch Highway also on Monday.

It will be alleged that about 10.07am on Monday, patrols were conducting speed detection duties at Struan when they detected a Toyota Land Cruiser travelling at 147kph in a 110kph zone.

The driver, a 38-year-old local man was issued a $1621 fine and seven demerit points.

Motorists are reminded that police will be strictly enforcing the ‘fatal five’ offences over the holiday season which can lead to fatal and serious injury crashes.

MAN DIES FROM INJURIES

A MAN has died following a crash at Greenways last week.

Just after 3pm on Tuesday, December 21, patrols and paramedics were called to the Princes Highway and Konetta Road, after a black Ford utility left the road and rolled before coming to rest in a paddock.

The driver and sole occupant, a 34-year-old man from Glenburnie, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to the Mt Gambier Hospital before being transferred to Adelaide.

Sadly, the man died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital on December 23.

The man’s death brings the number of lives lost on SA roads to 97 compared with 90 at the same time last year.
