THE Mount Gambier Longriders Christian Motorcycle Club held their annual Dice Run Fundraiser over the weekend.

Around 70 motorbikes and 15 hot-rods attended the day, touring around the Limestone Coast to raise money for a local Mount Gambier family.

Mount Gambier Longriders Publicity Officer Graeme Cleves said the club was thrilled with the event and turnout.

“Considering that a lot of Christmas shows were on, it was very very pleasing,” Mr Cleves said.

“We had beautiful weather, the drive was wonderful up to Kalangadoo Hotel, the new owners up there put on a wonderful spread for us.

“It was just fantastic, the street was full, the pub was very vibrant.”

The ride continued to Penola, Tarpeena and then back to the Longriders Motorcycle Club House, with the night’s festivities including raffles, awards, giveaways and a live band.

“The night kicked right on, a really good night all round,” Mr Cleves said.

“People who were there who had never been to our clubhouse before were absolutely amazed at the facilities we have got there.”

The group holds the event each year to raise funds for a worthy cause.

“We are a not-for-profit organisation and we do at least one fundraiser every year for special cases” Mr Cleves said.

This years special case was for the Fry Family, whose youngest member Anna was diagnosed with Tracheobronchomalacia.

“Our president of the club works with Jesse Fry, he heard about her baby and the situation and he came to us as a club and asked if we could do anything,” Mr Cleves said.

“The family showed up and we got to meet the little baby, she was beautiful.

“They were just tickled pink, the grandparents were there as well.

“They came back out to our club later and had a wonderful night, and sent us a text message to tell us what a good night they had.”

The event raised $3500 in total to be given to the family, along with an additional $500 donation previously made by Longriders Mount Gambier.
