Portland records three Covid-19 cases

THREE people have been identified with Covid-19 in Portland, with Victorian authorities continuing to investigate potential exposure sites.

Portland District Health acting chief executive Karena Prevett said the health service had been notified of three confirmed cases of Covid-19 with all three infected persons residing in the same household.

“At this stage we don’t know further details or exposure sites but understand the three people are isolating,” Ms Prevett said.

“In the meantime, we encourage anyone with COVID symptoms such as fever, dry cough and tiredness to isolate and get tested as soon as possible.”

Ms Prevett said the Victorian Health Department and the Barwon South West Public Health Unit will provide specific information about exposure sites.

The infections are the first Covid-19 cases in Portland in 2021 and follow fragments of the disease that were detected in the town’s wastewater samples on October 4.
