Digital treasurer hunters in town

AFTER two postponements due to Covid-19, Millicent will host the Australian geocaching community this weekend as part of the nation’s biggest digital treasure hunt event.

Hundreds of visitors are expected to descend on the town’s showground for the four-day GeoVenture2020 Mega Event, which is an outdoor recreational activity in which participants use GPS to hide and seek containers at specific locations marked by coordinates.

The event will start today (Friday) and run until noon on October 4.

Breakfast and dinner are being catered by the Millicent Lions, with all proceeds going back to the service club.

Boandik elder Aunty Michelle Jacquelin-Furr will conduct Welcome to Country at the Millicent Showgrounds schools show hall at 6pm tonight (Friday).

Participants will have an opportunity to beautify Penola’s Greenrise Recreational Reserve by planting a tree at the site on October 3 from 2pm.

A farewell event will be held at the Millicent Showgrounds shearing shed on October 4 at 10am.
