A NEW memorial stone has been added to the Port MacDonnell War Memorial site, honouring the separate branches of the Australian Defence Force – army, navy and airforce.
The headstone – which sits separate from the original memorial – was unveiled earlier this month during a service honouring the centenary of the laying of the memorial’s foundation stone.
Around 50 community members attended the ceremony.
Event organisers were pleased with the turnout and encouraged to see a good mix of old and young in attendance.
The new headstone was donated by the District Council of Grant.
