CROCHET and knitting enthusiasts have raised around $300 for the Mount Gambier Library to purchase magazine subscriptions for felting and yarn creations.

The funds were raised by local craft group Twisted Threads following its successful Autumn Threads festival, held at Mount Gambier City Hall earlier this year.

Creations from felting to quilting was presented to attendees with profits from the raffle and sale of work contributing to the donation.

Twisted Threads coordinator Julianne Woodruff said participants enjoyed every moment of the festival experience.

“Everyone loved it because we had the room to have people demonstrating this year and had plenty of people spinning and weaving and attendees were able to try it out,” Ms Woodruff said.

“Hopefully next year we can do the same thing because it is a great cause and the magazines subscriptions that the money goes towards is for all of the community and have more up to date patterns and ideas for everyone interested in the craft.”

Ms Woodruff said the group welcomed newcomers to its meeting each Wednesday at the library, with Saturday classes to start for those who work or attend school.

“Everyone is welcome to come along because knitting is something for everyone and we encourage people to keep trying it,” she said.
